7 weeks - WOW...I cannot believe how far I got, from knowing nothing about creating websites, or knowing what HTML stands for. I know now the basics of what a website should look like, and that it should have the C.R.A.P. principles applied.
I also learned how to apply changes to my pictures with the Photo Elements 11, which I really enjoyed.
Comparing the Web Expression to Wix....I would say I had an easier time using Web Expression, but the site looks blah and their is no flash I could apply to any functions and the colors look lifeless.
After actually trying and signing up for many web builder websites I decided to stick with Wix.com
The site looks great, the colors are full of life and I like the flash builder build right in. I did had a hard time putting my storyboard on this template and had to change some of my original ideas to make it fit to the template. After a couple of attempts I decided to change the template to fit my ideas, and was successful and it started to get easier.
I have to give a big thank you to our Teacher Michele Mislevy. She was very helpful and we learned a lot in a very short time. I really enjoyed this class and will take a lot of material to use when I create my next website :-)

Creating my website on Wix
On my...where to start. I thought it would be easier on this site, but to be honest, I thought that Web Expression was a lot easier.
It started with an error message when I wanted to start the tutorial, which I then finally skipped and started to build the site on my own.
I did had a lot of choices on the templates I wanted to use...and after a while found one that I was happy with. I did had some problems adding my pictures, but figured out that it was only a user problem. LOL. I used the same amount of time using web expression. Other wise it was pretty easy to change the templates to my liking. The other thing I like is that I can get in to my website and change anything myself. I do not need to hire a professional who will take a long time and charge a lot of money.

Building my Storyboard - Creating my Website on Web Expresssion
I created my Storyboard with 5 pages. I had a lot of fun creating it and moving pictures and ideas around. It took me some time until my creative juices started to flow, but once I got started everything went pretty easy.
I then took my storyboard to create my first website on web expression. I am glad that I had my work done before, because it was pretty easy to fill everything else in.
I started to work in web expression and found myself working in it and could not get enough. I really enjoyed the site and found it pretty easy to work with. The only problem I had was to line up the pictures I added.
This website does look a little blah, and I wish it could be more interactive. My next project will be to add the site in Wix. Please follow me to my next blog to see how I did.

What is the purpose of storyboards?
Storyboards are a great tool to Brainstorm for your website. It is a illustration of your ideas for your webpages. You can start laying out those ideas first on paper, and once you have everything written and placed where you want it you can use this layout and start to structure it on your website.
Summarize and reflect on what you have read
Writing for the web is different than writing for print. People get bored really easily and you should make sure to use links, otherwise you pages seem to be boring. Make sure you keep it personalized and have good navigation.
Make sure what you write about fits with what the website is about. Put the conclusion at the beginning. Get the point across in the first paragraph and then expand on it. Tell the reader what to do Avoid passive voice (oh my...not my strongest part), and use lists instead of paragraphs. Limit the lists to 7 words and write short sentences. Include subheadings and make sure links are a part of your site. Always proof read your work.
The chapter 13 in our non-designer web book talks about advanced tips and tricks (which I could use :-)) It shows you how much you can have with tables, or how to adjust color, and slicing graphics and many more.
The chapter 14 talks about how to test and fix your website. You must make sure that before going live your website works. It talks about site management software and how test your pages and fixing things that are not working.
The chapter 15 is all about uploading and updating your site. Once you are finished creating your website you should post it on to a server. To do that you have to upload the files (FTP) to a server. It showed us how to do it and once it is on the server how to check it for errors and fix them.
