As a web-designer to built an effortless (successful) website you need to have a solid understanding of the fundamentals skills, not only on the front-end and back-end development, the designer should know how it interacts with all kinds of different web tools. This applies both to the professional as well as the hobbyist.

The fundamentals skills for a successful website is as follows:

  • Determine your goal
  • Clearly define content
  • Architect your site (put everything in it's right place), Define and prioritize site goals, organize content and flow, and plan navigation
  • Generate Mock ups
  • Built it
  • TEST it
Another important factor is to check the site periodically, because you never know in the ever changing world of web-design.
